beyond ache

when i began this project i had just finished baking some banana bread and sent an image to my partner. the caption i gave it became the poem recited here.
we are going through hard times, but it is also a time where real transformation can begin to happen. i worry though that 1. we will continue on a cycle of reform and 2. if we do deconstruct and rebuild, that we will rebuild from a place that is still wounded, and no good can come from there.
so i invite you all to (re)imagine a better future - *really* (re)imagine it - beyond self imposed limitations, beyond the limitations that this world has set, and work towards that future, where we heal from old wounds and have the wisdom and the tools to address new ones. a place where it is hip to care for your fellow humxn instead of building on their corpses.
if you've imagined it, then work on making yourself better to build it and to be it.

this would not have been possible without the vulnerable contributions of some wonderful womxn:
annaclaire a. | diana a. | asiya e. | judy i. | liena i. | rebecca o. | ronke o. | ronke y. | sabeena a. | & yimika o.
and i am deeply grateful for the team that helped me put it all together:
johanna m. - composer
dennis n. - creative consultant
& oppy s. - creative consultant
